Catalog Description

The Automobile Fundamentals certificate includes a series of three class designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position in the automotive service and repair industry. Students begin with Auto 101 which introduces them to the industry and the foundational skills they will need. Following Auto 101 the students will complete Auto 151 and Auto 156. Auto 151 will develop the students understanding of the mechanical aspects of an engine and prepare them for certification in the Automotive Service Excellence A1 certification. Auto 156 focuses on the electrical and electronic aspects of the vehicle, preparing the student for certification in the Automotive Service Excellence A6 certification. No prerequisites are required for this series of courses. 

Enrollment Completer Projections

40 to 50 students are projected to earn the Automobile Fundamentals certificate annually.

The Automobile Fundamentals certificate is designed to prepare a student for an entry-level position in the automotive service industry as a technician. Students will develop a solid understanding of the basic skills required by an automotive technician as well as an understanding of the automotive service industry as it relates to career progression.

Program Requirements Narrative

To earn the Automobile Fundamentals certificate the student must successfully complete courses in the order of Auto 101, Auto 151, and Auto 156 with a grade of C or better in each course. Students do not require any prerequisite courses or education prior to enrolling in Auto 101.
