The Advanced Graphic Design program is designed to prepare students for employment in Graphic Art and Design industries.  Career opportunities for students completing this program of study include, but are not limited to:

Students completing the Advanced Graphic Design Certificate Program will acquire the following skills and competencies:

  • Advanced Design Techniques - Mastery of complex design principles, including branding, visual identity, and UX/UI design.
  • Proficiency in Industry Software - Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), along with other digital tools like Sketch, Figma, and After Effects.
  • Creative Problem-Solving - Ability to develop innovative design solutions tailored to diverse project requirements and audiences.
  • Portfolio Development - Experience creating a professional portfolio that showcases a range of skills, including digital illustration, motion graphics, and cohesive branding projects.
  • Effective Visual Communication - Expertise in crafting designs that convey messages clearly and engagingly across various media platforms.
  • Project Management - Skills in planning, executing, and managing design projects, including collaboration, time management, and meeting client specifications.
  • Professional Presentation & Critique - Ability to present design concepts confidently, explain design choices, and engage in constructive feedback sessions.

Program Goal

The Advanced Graphic Design program is designed for students who have foundational knowledge in graphic design and seek to refine their skills to a professional level. This program offers an in-depth exploration of advanced design concepts, including branding, user experience (UX) design, digital illustration, and motion graphics. Students will gain mastery over industry-standard software, develop sophisticated design solutions, and learn to execute projects across multiple media platforms. Through a series of complex, real-world projects, students will build a diverse and polished portfolio that demonstrates their ability to think creatively, solve design challenges, and communicate visually in a compelling and effective way. The program prepares students for careers in design, advertising, digital media, and other creative industries and aligns with transfer requirements for university-level design programs when desired.
