Catalog Description

The HVAC Technology program prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of Environmental Control Technology, also known as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration. Students completing these degrees/certificates offered in this program will have a foundation in troubleshooting and repair of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems. This program also introduces students to more complex systems typical to industrial refrigeration and ice machines.

Career opportunities upon successful completion of this program include, but are not limited to; HVAC/R service technician, installation technician, sales representative, and industrial refrigeration operations.

Upon completion of graduation requirements and the required degree courses with at least a “C” or “P” grade in each course, the student will be eligible for an Associate of

Science degree.

Enrollment Completer Projections

An estimated 10 students will complete the program annually.  Currently, the average total enrollment rate including certificate only students is approximately 30 students per semester.

Program Goal

The purpose of this program is to serve the HVAC/R industry and our students who seek gainful employment as HVAC/R technicians.   The program is currently being expanded to meet the needs of our students and the industry due to changing technologies.  The students are currently being instructed on the core skills and knowledge required by employers, but the industry now demands a higher level of education in the areas of controls, energy conservation, and energy management.  We are striving to meet the demand by introducing new courses in these areas of study.

In the advisory minutes, if phone input is being considered, there should be some documentation that shows a follow up where advisory members actually cast a vote. I'll give my approval this time, but this should be addressed in future advisory organization.
