The courses listed in the Automotive Basic Service and Repair certificate are selected to provide a competent level of job skills needed for a technician specializing in basic automotive preventative maintenance and light repairs. The certificate is designed to prepare an individual for employment or to provide skills needed to enhance advancement in the automotive industry. Students can enter the program with no previous training or education.

Program Goal

Students will develop the skills needed to properly inspect a car or light truck for safety concerns, maintenance requirements, and light repairs. Students will learn the basics of automotive service and repair including the theoretical knowledge behind basic system operations.
