Catalog Description

The courses listed in the Toyota / Lexus Technician certificate are selected to provide a comprehensive set of job skills needed by Toyota and Lexus technicians. In addition to improving the student’s employability, the skills developed in each course will enhance their ability to become Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified in all eight ASE areas. The certificate is designed to prepare an individual for employment or provide the skills needed for career advancement. Students can enter into the program with no previous experience or education.

Students completing the Toyota / Lexus Technician certificate will have the skills, knowledge, and understanding to be a certified maintenance technician for a Toyota or Lexus dealership or an independent shop working on Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Program Requirements Narrative

Students can enter into the Toyota / Lexus Technician certificate program with no prior education or courses in automotive technology. The students will progress through each course in sequence, with each course as a prerequisite for the next. Students must successfully complete all courses with a grade of C or better. Note that the course Automotive Service and Repair Work Experience is listed as Auto 230 A/B/C/D. These are four separate courses with Auto 230A being 1 credit, Auto 230B being 2 credits, Auto 230C being 3 credits, and Auto 230D being 4 credits. The students can take any combination of the courses that total up to four credits or higher.
