The private security industry is a crucial component of security and safety in the United States; it provides the safety and protection beyond what government services are able to provide. Private security is responsible for protecting many of the nation‘s institutions and critical infrastructure systems, and for protecting intellectual property and sensitive corporate information. U.S. companies rely heavily on private security for a wide range of functions, including protecting employees and property, conducting investigations, performing pre-employment screening, providing information technology security, and many other functions. According to the latest research by Future Market Insights, private security is set to witness steady growth at a CAGR of 3.0% growth during 2021-2031. According to the California EDD Labor Market Information data, jobs in private sector security are expected to increase by 6.6 percent, or 11,000 jobs, between 2018 and 2028. According to IBIS World Data, the security services industry market size, measured by revenue, is $51.8bn in 2022; the industry is expected to increase 3.4% in 2022; the market size of the Security Services industry in the US has grown 3.3% per year on average between 2017 and 2022.
