CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
Description
This certificate is designed to prepare individuals to manage, coordinate, and supervise the construction process from concept development through project completion. The curriculum focuses on providing a broad base of knowledge and skills for employment in the construction industry. Students completing the Construction Management Certificate will find a variety of career choices; including cost estimator, construction manager, site supervisor, planner and scheduler, and project manager.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Describe the construction industry and identify career pathways and opportunities.
- Identify safety and code compliant construction in the construction industry.
- Utilize fundamental building principles to lay out and construct structures and systems.

The Gavilan College Construction Management Program is a new 15 unit Certificate of Achievement. This certificate is designed to prepare individuals to manage, coordinate, and supervise the construction process from concept development through project completion. The curriculum focuses on providing a broad base of knowledge and skills for employment in the construction industry. Students completing the Construction Management Certificate will find a variety of career choices; including cost estimator, construction manager, site supervisor, planner and scheduler, and project manager. The goal is starting in Fall 2020 the college will have 5 Construction Management courses, which will make up this Certificate of Achievement. Students earning this certificate will have it appear on their transcript which may be an advantage as they enter the job market.
