Catalog Description

This Certificate of Achievement acknowledges the successful completion of the Sierra College Paramedic Program. Students must pass each course in sequential order before advancing to the next. Fulfilling the program's requirements equips individuals with the ability to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination. This certificate of achievement provides recognition for career technical skills in paramedicine; however, it's not equivalent to an associate degree.

Enrollment Completer Projections

20 students per year to start, may increase to 25, depending on clinical sites.

Program Goal

The goal or objective of a Certificate of Achievement in Paramedicine is to recognize individuals who have successfully completed a paramedic program. This certificate signifies that the recipient has acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and training to work effectively as a paramedic in emergency situations. It serves as a validation of their competency and readiness to provide critical care to patients in need. Additionally, the certificate may also aim t prepare individuals for entry-level positions in the field of paramedicine or provide a foundation for further education and career advancement in related areas of healthcare.

Program Requirements Narrative

We submitted and were approved for the Associate of Science Degree in Paramedicine in 2019. Per industry request, we will be starting the paramedic program as a certificate first, hopefully in January 2025. The certificate of achievement will be awarded once the students successfully complete the 34 units listed below.
