This Insurance Professional I certificate is designed for students with employment experience in an insurance office or an insurance-related business. This coursework will help prepare students for entry-level positions. Completion of this program will also help prepare students for insurance certifications. This program is approved by the Insurance Education Association (IEA). Students learn to describe elements of a contract, insurance contracts, and conditions commonly found in property and liability insurance policies.

Insurance Professional I Certificate (Total 14 units)
The Insurance Professional I Certificate program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in insurance industry practices and principles, preparing them for entry-level careers and industry-recognized certification exams. Through focused coursework, students will expand their understanding of accounting basics, business organization, and the core principles of property, liability, personal, commercial, life, and health insurance.
This program also emphasizes ethical decision-making, workplace professionalism, and essential leadership skills necessary for navigating today’s dynamic insurance environment. Students who complete this certificate will be equipped to pursue roles such as insurance agents, claims adjusters, risk analysts, and sales professionals within the insurance industry.

A survey of the insurance industry, including an overview of career paths and key industry functions.BUSAD 112 – Applied Workplace Ethics (1 unit)
Focuses on professional behavior, ethical standards, and decision-making in the business and insurance sectors.BUSAD 113 – Principles of Property and Liability Insurance (3 units)
