Catalog Description

This Certificate of Achievement teaches the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the field of web development. Provides a foundation in usability, accessibility, and design principles, as well as, technical skills at hand-coding HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL. Includes use of authoring tools for design, editing and publishing of web pages, documents and audiovisuals on the Internet.

Enrollment Completer Projections

It is estimated that 15-20 students will complete the six courses required for the Website Design and Development Certificate of Achievement each year.

Program Goal

This Certificate of Achievement provides students with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in the field of web design and development. Students study principles of design, user interfaces, navigation, graphics applications and authoring tools to design, edit and publish web pages, documents and audiovisuals for the Internet. The skills acquired empower students to find employment either in a full-time position or as an enhancement to their work in a diverse range of fields. Many organizations in the county have or would benefit from a web presence to promote their products and services. Students may secure a job at one of many local companies in their marketing, e-commerce or communications department. They also have the opportunity to work as a freelance developer or consultant with both local and out of area clients.
