Program Goal

The field of nutrition and dietetics is rapidly evolving, with growing expectations for professionals to be proficient in digital tools, data analysis, and artificial intelligence (AI). Employers increasingly seek college graduates who possess AI-related competencies and the ability to apply emerging technologies to improve client outcomes, streamline workflows, and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare and community settings. The Certificate of Achievement in Nutrition and Technology supports Long Beach City College’s mission to provide equitable access to innovative, high-quality educational programs that empower students to attain their career and academic goals. This certificate prepares students to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare and nutrition workforce by integrating core nutrition knowledge with cutting-edge tools in AI, dietary analysis software, and telehealth platforms.

Students gain hands-on experience using tools such as Nutrition Foodservice Software (e.g., ESHA Food Processor), MyPlate App, Food Labeling Software (e.g., Cronometer), and AI platforms like ChatGPT to support dietary analysis, menu planning, and client education. The program fosters employment in clinical, community, and food service settings while complementing the Associate of Science Degree in Nutrition Assistant and the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in Nutrition and Dietetics, thereby enhancing both transfer readiness and career preparation for clinical, community, and food service roles in a technology-driven nutrition workforce.
