Catalog Description

The following curriculum meets the requirement for a Certificate of Achievement in Computer Information Technology/Network Technician. The courses needed for the certificate are designed for those who wish to pursue a career in Information Technology as a Network Technician.

Program Goal

Students that successfully complete this certificate will be able to install, design, and troubleshoot enterprise networks and perform basic network security. This certificate also prepares students to pass the Cisco ICND-1 examination, the Cisco ICND-2 examination, and the CompTIA Security + examination.

Specific Objectives of Certificate:

  • To prepare students for employment in the computer information technology field as system administrators with an emphasis on the Microsoft Windows server and client platform.
  • To offer students experience in designing, installing, upgrading deploying and maintaining Microsoft servers and clients
  • To prepare students interested in transferring to colleges in the California State University system

This program will offer additional degrees available to our students which will increase the number of degree completion and university transfer. This program is also focused on careers that require Associate degrees to provide our students with a competitive advantage in the information Technology field. This program also targets job opportunities thatare expected to grow in California. Rio Hondo graduates will be prepared tofill expected employment openings and contribute to our region’s economicfuture.
