New Program
This COA would align well with the existing certificates available for Fire Technology, Wildland Fire Technology, Fire Academy, Administration of Justice and Homeland Security. This would also complete the set of COA's that students can achieve in the Administration of Justice and Fire Technology Division.
I am not aware of any other certificates of achievement at other colleges in our service area. There is an associate's degree available at Mt. SAC. However, that is in Paramedicine, which is the most advanced level of Prehospital emergency medical care.
The objective of providing graduating students a COA is to assist them with becoming employed in our local workforce. Our partner companies and agencies have stated that this would assist our students in the hiring processes to show that they have completed a recognized and well respected EMT program in our region.
Public Services
Currently, there is not a certificate of achievement available to students in Emergency Medical Services. This would complete the series of COAs that are available in the Administration of Justice and Fire Technology Division.
