The Administration of Justice: Certificate of Achievement in Extended Police Academy offers curriculum to prepare students with knowledge and skills necessary to complete a law enforcement field training program certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Graduates from the basic core courses may be eligible for employment opportunities in government entities such as State, County and City Law Enforcement agencies specializing in police services, and private enterprise where law enforcement principles are applied. The certificate is intended for working adults who is able to train on weekends.

Program Goal
The Administration of Justice Department at East Los Angeles College has been recognized at both the local and state levels for its innovative efforts toward the continuing education and training of both pre-service and in-service criminal justice system personnel. Designed to satisfy the training standards set forth by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and also found in California Code of Regulations, Title 11 Division 2 and Penal Code sections 13500 et seq. The program includes law, patrol techniques, arrest and control, use of force, investigative report writing, cultural diversity, firearms and chemical agents, collection and presentation of evidence, weapons law, crimes against children, juvenile law, controlled substances, ABC law, emergency vehicle operations, domestic violence, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, physical fitness and nutrition (lifetime-fitness), gangs, First Aid/CPR/AED, custody, criminal justice system, etc. and required state exams. The program is designed to prepare students to be hired by a law enforcement agency as a Level I Reserve Officer or full-time Peace Officer in the State of California.
