The Accounting Professional Certificate builds on the Accounting Specialist Certificate and prepares students for entry-level roles in accounting or business. This program expands on core accounting knowledge by adding critical business context and quantitative skills. This certificate gives students a broader understanding of accounting’s role within the overall business environment, reinforcing practical accounting knowledge while strengthening analytical and ethical decision-making abilities. As part of a stackable credential sequence, this certificate supports career advancement and lays groundwork for further study in accounting or business.
We estimate about 20 completers each year based on current course enrollments.

- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
The goal of the Accounting Professional Certificate is to build on the specialized accounting skills gained in the Accounting Specialist Certificate through the addition of critical business context and quantitative skills to strengthen critical thinking and ethical decision-making. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level accounting or business roles and positioned to pursue further academic advancement.

Course Report
The requirements of this certificate add onto the requirements of the Accounting Specialist Certificate by requiring three additional Business Administration courses: Introduction to Business (BUAD 10), Business & Society (BUAD 15), and Business Math (BUAD 17). BUAD 10 provides students with a broader understanding of business, BUAD 15 introduces students to the concept of ethics and how this is relevant to business and accounting, and BUAD 17 provides students with additional quantitative skills to complement their accounting knowledge.
