The International Business I certificate presents the business concepts necessary to compete in the International Global Marketplace. It prepares students to import, export, and/or establish an overseas business presence. This program is designed for both the individual entrepreneur and the established company executive.

The International Business I aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of conducting business globally, including cross-cultural considerations, regulatory frameworks, and operational aspects, while equipping students with the knowledge and skills to navigate international markets, manage cross-border activities, and analyze economic, political, and legal environments impacting global business decisions. Students will evaluate cross-cultural issues, develop international marketing strategies, explain regulatory agency functions, prepare required documentation, analyze country-specific environments, understand international finance principles, apply ethical practices, develop effective communication skills, collaborate with diverse teams, and demonstrate the ability to navigate multicultural business environments, ultimately preparing them for entry-level positions in industries with global reach, such as import/export, logistics, international marketing, and multinational corporations.

Program Requirements
International Business I (Total 9 units)
This program introduces students to the foundational concepts of international business, preparing them for further study or entry-level roles in global commerce. To complete the program, students must successfully complete the following three courses:
BUSAD 101 – Introduction to Business (3 units)
Provides a broad overview of the business environment, including key functions such as management, marketing, finance, and operations. Emphasis is placed on understanding how businesses operate within a global context.BUSAD 170 – Introduction to International Business (3 units)
Explores the structure and dynamics of global business, including cultural, legal, political, and economic factors that influence international trade and investment. Students gain insight into global market strategies and the challenges of cross-border operations.BUSAD 178 – Introduction to International Finance (3 units)
Covers the basics of international financial management, including foreign exchange markets, international monetary systems, and financial instruments. Students learn how financial decisions are made in an international business environment.
Upon successful completion of these courses, students will have a foundation in the principles of international business and finance, equipping them for further education or entry into the global business field.
