The Certificate of Achievement in Agriculture Business is intended for those students who plan to enter the workforce. The Agriculture Business major is made up of agriculture and agricultural business courses pertaining to the industry. Many jobs in agriculture require training in business courses such as accounting, computers and salesmanship. Career opportunities include marketing, sales and logistics related to agricultural products. To Achieve the Certificate of Achievement: Upon completion of the following courses with at least a ‘C’ grade in each course, the student will be awarded an Agriculture Business Certificate of Achievement.

- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
1. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to: Develop an understanding of the agricultural industry and how agricultural business activities effect the agricultural producer, consumer and food system.
2. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to: Develop and demonstrate verbal and written communication skills that are necessary for efficient and clear dissemination of economic analysis, as well as for success in private and public sector careers.
3. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to: Understand and interpret economic news and trends using economic theory and apply them to agricultural operations for employment that will enhance opportunities and success in agriculture businesses in the 21st century.
4. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to: Have an understanding of management principles encountered in the day to day operation of an agricultural enterprise.
5. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to: Demonstrate critical, integrative and evaluative thinking.

Course Report
Kern County is the #2 agricultural producing county for the entire nation. We are heavily dependent on agricultural activities as an economic driver in Kern County. Bakersfield College's mission is to prepare students with skills needed in areas of employment. The agriculture industry is in need of skilled laborer and a Certificate of Achievement in Agriculture Business will prepare students of all diverse economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds to be prepared to find gainful employment in this industry.
