The facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) Certificate provides foundational knowledge and hands-on training in essential building maintenance tasks. Certificate holders are equipped to perform maintenance and repair duties that ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of buildings and assets across commercial, industrial, and residential facilities. Key skills covered include conducting routine inspections, performing minor repairs, and carrying out preventative maintenance on critical building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and basic HVAC. This certificate requires a total of 38 units. A grade of C or better is required in each course taken. At least half of the units towards this degree must be completed at Fullerton College.

This certificate provides necessary knowledge while developing hands-on technical skills and foundational knowledge in building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety practices. Adding on the job training, students will advance into numerous roles: Lead Maintenance Technician, Facilities Coordinator, Building Engineer, Property/Facility Supervisor.
