Catalog Description

The certificate of achievement in Personal Wellness Trainer provides students with hands-on training and tools to successfully begin a career in personal training, wellness, group fitness, or other related fitness professions. Courses involve active participation and lecture in exercise program development, nutritional analysis, fitness assessment, injury prevention, and overall well-being.

Program Goal

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for entry level positions in the field of personal wellness including personal training, exercise programming, fitness and/or wellness coordinator. The sequence of courses in the certificate have been identified by industry representatives as providing students the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed for these positions. The program is designed to provide students with knowledge and experience in general aspects of personal wellness. The certificate of achievement in Personal Wellness Trainer also provides an introductory pathway for students interested in kinesiology-related professions outside of the physical therapy or coaching track.
