The Bookkeeping Certificate of Achievement prepares students for an entry level position as a bookkeeper. This program emphasizes day-to-day tasks in support of the financial aspects of an office. Students will be able to use application software to prepare source documents, transcribe information, enter and process data on computers, and prepare financial statements. Topics covered in this program include recording sales and accounts receivable; purchases and accounts payable; cash receipts and payments; banking and payroll procedures. Positive communication skills are developed throughout the program.

Thegoal of the program is to provide a short-term educational path to assiststudents in developing job skills to be able to enter the workforce or advancein their current position. Reedley College Office Technology classes preparestudents with real-life skills and provide the tools necessary to adapt to theever-changing world of technology.

This program fulfills the collegemission of providing career technical education programs that meet theworkforce needs of our diverse communities.
The department and college use theprogram review process to assess program improvement needs. The departmentmeets twice annually with its industry-based advisory committee to discussindustry/workplace needs and the enhancement of instructional programs to facilitatethose needs. Discussions focus on specific skill sets desired by employers aswell as current industry trends and issues with which students must be familiarupon program completion.
The courses for this certificateare housed within existing facilities. Faculty teaching in the program meetminimum qualifications.
