Catalog Description

To meet the demand for well trained aviation technicians in the aerospace industry, Las Positas College offers two Associate Degrees (AS) and two Certificates in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT). Each degree and certificate focuses on either Airframe systems or Powerplants. In two years, you can achieve both which allows you to become recognized as an A & P technician. This program trains students to perform technical skills for immediate employment as an aviation technician. The Aircraft Maintenance program is cohort driven with groups starting each semester. Our course schedules are flexible with full-time and part time options. Our program prepares students to pass the FAA Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) knowledge, oral, practical and written examinations, leading to professional certification. This certification will provide a broad career path as an aviation mechanic, aircraft service person, repair or sales of aircraft accessories, airframe specialist, and as a general technician. These skills are recognized by a broad range of industries and are acknowledged internationally creating significant freedom of movement and career choices. We partner with local aviation professionals at the Livermore Airport to provide apprenticeship and internship opportunities with credit.
