Catalog Description

This program prepares students for entry into or career growth within the logistics industry and ongoing study of the field. The focus is on integrated logistics, a necessity for the management of effective and efficient supply chains. Logistics disciplines covered include warehousing, transportation, service contracting, purchasing, global logistics, etc.

Program Learning Outcomes

In addition to outcomes from the core Business Administration courses, and upon successful completion of the Logistics concentration, students should be able to do four to five of the following eight things:

• Compare roles and objectives of the logistics disciplines

• Understand how logistics functions can interact to efficiently use total personnel, facilities, and equipment.

• Contributeknowledge needed by multidisciplinary teams to effectively integrate and exceed end user (customer) expectations

• Analyze, prepare, file and process claims when unavoidable freight disputes arise

• Explain how the overall flow of goods, services, and information can be optimized to satisfy the customer and business goals

• Identify 3rdparty logistics provider and client needs in negotiations, bidding, and contracts, as well as legal and regulatory constraints to integrated logistics

• Describe roles and value added by global logistics intermediaries
