Course Report

Program Requirements Narrative

This Modification is due to the state updating the name of the Department of Real Estate. The DRE has changed the requirements for the Broker's License Exam, and we are updating our certificate to reflect these changes. We are also clarifying that students completing these classes will earn students a Certificate of Achievement rather than just "certificate" as we wanted to avoid any possible confusion between earning a certificate from the college vs. a license from the state.

MiraCosta College supports this program modification. Just an FYI: MiraCosta deleted it's credit Real Estate Program last year. It is now offered and is thriving in community education (not for credit) since they can get students interested individuals their licenses in a few weeks (as opposed to our credit offerings).

Cuyamaca College submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE recommends proceeding with caution when developing a new program, but defers to the region for a program modification because a high number of institutions train for these occupations. However, these occupations’ entry-level and median earnings are above the living wage and a supply gap exists for these positions. Colleges should also note that there is a significant number of (17,019) active realtors in San Diego County, which is not captured in the supply gap analysis.
