In the Certificate of Achievement - Accounting program students will develop basic accounting skills and knowledge necessary to obtain entry-level accounting positions such as bookkeepers, accounts receivable clerks, accounts payable clerks and other entry level accounting positions.
Program Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this program, students will
- Demonstrate understanding of double entry accounting and apply those concepts to financial and cost accounting systems for service, merchandising and manufacturing business organizations.
- Students will learn relevant financial and managerial accounting career skills, applying both quantitative and qualitative knowledge to the preparation of statements and supporting schedules.
- ·Students will be able to construct the four basic financial statements and will be able to demonstrate how information from business transactions flows into the statements for service, merchandising and manufacturing entities and how information flows from one statement to the next.
This certificate of achievement requires that students complete the following courses:

Based on current enrollment trends and projected increased enrollments due to updating the program requirements, completer estimates are 40 - 50 students per academic year. As the program grows and becomes more successful, it is anticipated that this figure will increase.

The Certificate of Achievement - Accounting program is an occupational program that prepares students for living wage employment in a short period of time (2 academic semesters). Several of the courses must be taken sequentially. Because each semester does not require full-time enrollment this program can be taken in conjunction with other programs or other beneficial classes can be added to increase employability and skill level. The program requires a total of 17 units and includes the following courses:

- Spreadsheets
