Catalog Description

This comprehensive program features pre-production planning, camera and audio work, post-production editing techniques and technology to complete digital video projects.

Enrollment Completer Projections

While it is difficult to predict the number of program completers and degree/certificate recipients, optimistic data are available.

  • headcount has risen over the past five years from 371 to 640 students.
  • class sections have risen from 38 to 57.
  • gpa has risen from 2.86 to 3.10
  • retention has remained fairly constant from 92.1 to 93.7%.
  • success rate has risen from 75% to 84%.

The program has been affected by the large number of Dual-Enrollment offerings through Valley ROP and Fresno Unified. GRC 27 (video production) is the most popular of these courses. Video production is being taught in the public high schools and student enrollment is very high in those classes.

The number of degrees and certificates awarded in the Graphic Communications program has remained between 5-7 each year. There was a spike in the years 2013-2015 when counseling staff made an extra effort to encourage students to apply for certificates.

Degrees

Certificates
 6171757
 2012-132013-142014-152015-162016-17

With the level of student interest in video producton, it is fair to assume that the certificate/degree rates will increase as a result of this program offering.

Headcount in GRC27 (video production) has risen from 45 in 2012-13 to 219 students in 2016-17

(all data from F2018 Graphic Communications Program Review)

A modest estimate of annual certificate/degree awards is 10 students annually.
