Video Arts Level II: Editing and Post-Production

The Video Arts Level II: Editing and Post Production Certificate of Achievement provides theory and practice of industry standards for film aesthetics and time-based media design; video and audio acquisition, effects, deliverables output, and project and media management.

This Certificate of Achievement will provide students with key multimedia skills such as editing, video production, sound design, motion graphics, animation and graphic design necessary to gain employment in post-production positions.

The program has updated to reflect current curriculum offerings and current local job opportunities.  In addition, the TOP Code has been changed.

Completion of this certificate will provide students with the coursework they need to work as sound designers and video editors, color graders, assistant editors, and motion graphic artists for a variety of client types.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate command of major video post production programs and related equipment at an intermediate to advanced skill level.
2. Create student projects and evaluate with discernment, appropriate terminology, and aesthetic awareness resulting in professional level projects.
3. Apply collaborative communication skills in a professional manner, under the lead of a director or producer if applicable.

The video strand under the Multimedia Arts department recently was updated to clean up TOP codes and to update courses with new prefixes as well as to check SAM and CIP codes. The change in the TOP code is a substantive change, thus the program is being submitted for endorsement.

Laney has a Broadcast Video Program we contacted Vina Cera to inform her of the updates. The updates have followed our local process and have been approved at Local college and District CIPD. Contra Costa has a Digital Film Production certificate; CCSF has a Cinema Production AS, as you will see from the LMI data there are plenty of opportunities for all students to succeed and they are outside our catchment area.
