The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) certificate will fulfill the requirements of TransitionalKindergarten Senate Bill 837. This bill requires teachers with a teaching credential who wish to teach in a TK classroom to complete 24 units of Child Development or Early ChildhoodEducation coursework by August 1, 2020. The courses offered in this TK Certificate will prepare students to specifically work with four and five-year-old children, with an emphasis on the California Preschool Learning Foundations and how to create a developmentally appropriate environment for young children. This certificate helps guide current and future educators to enroll in coursework that will specifically prepare them for the unique developmental needs of afour and five-year-old child.
