Certificate of Achievement, Criminal Forensics

This Certificate prepares students for entry level jobs in Crime Scene Investigation and finger Print collection and identification.

Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate the critical thinking skills that are needed to identify potential evidence

2. Analyze and process a crime scene and establish a chain of custody for all collected evidence.

The department expects 20 students to complete each year.

The Criminal Forensics Program gives students the tools they need to perform in entry level positions in crime scene analysis, photography, evidence collection and analysis.  It will also prepare them to perform basic tasks in a crime laboratory.

Existing Program: We are changing from a Certificate of Accomplishment to a Certificate of Achievement.

This program is part of the Administration of Justice Program.

There are several Administration of Justice Programs in the southern California area, and all are highly enrolled. The Forensics Certificate is not offered at seven local colleges, making Long Beach City College the destination for this specialty Certificate.
