Program Modifications (formerly substantial changes)
Mechanical Drafting (095340)
08/17/26
Designed to give students the advanced drafting support knowledge and abilities required to enter the workforce at the specialist level. Focuses on skills relative to specialized mechanical documentation such as is used in aerospace and automotive drafting. Appropriate for students seeking retraining. Will help successful candidates prepare to sit for the professional ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing certification exam.
This is a specialty skills certificate designed to provide career technical skills; it is not equivalent to an associate degree.
Enrollment 40 per year and Completion 5 per year, growing to 20+ per year
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
Provide students with middle skills needed for living-wage employment in manufacturing industries. The intent of this adjustment is to 1) Streamline award attainment, 2) Provide students with a wider variety of course selection, 3) Accommodate employer requests to have employees with broader knowledge of manufacturing, 4) Show new course numbering system in Award Details

It is good that we are listening to employers and adjusting curriculum to their needs, that is one of the great things CTE programs represent. Some of the COE data is low but hopefully these students will get the few jobs that are available.
