Catalog Description
The Cloud Computing-Amazon Web Services Certificate of Achievement provides students with a high quality education that prepares them for a professional career as an Amazon Web Services Solution Architect. The curriculum prepares students to define a solution using AWS architectural design principles based on customer requirements and provide an AWS infrastructure implementation guidance based on best practices to the organization throughout the life cycle of the project.
This program of study is designed to prepare students to work successfully as a member of an information technology department. Upon completion of the required courses, the students can apply for Cloud Computing-Amazon Web Services Certificate of Achievement.
To complete the Cloud Computing-Amazon Web Services Certificate of Achievement, students must complete all of the program course requirements. It is recommended that students consult with the Counseling Office to develop a Comprehensive Student Educational Plan.

Program Goal
West Los Angeles College’s Cloud Computing-Amazon Web Services Certificate of Achievement responds to the growing demands for highly skilled Cloud Solutions Professionals. Large and small corporations, businesses, non-profit organizations, and civic and governmental agencies are migrating traditional data centers to cloud solutions due to the sufficient cost saving that cloud computing offers as well the flexibility of deployments options.
The large number of companies migrating their information technology services to AWS cloud computing has created a wide range of employment opportunities and options for individuals who have the ability to develop infrastructure solution in Amazon Web Services. West Los Angeles College will tap into this market and help students learn to be AWS solutions architects.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate the following Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):
• An understanding of the basic cloud principles
• An understanding of the AWS global infrastructure
• An understanding of computing technologies supported by AWS
• An understanding of database services and features offered by AWS
• An understanding of network technologies offered by AWS
• An understanding of security features and tools that AWS provides and how they relate to traditional services
