Catalog Description

This certificate prepares students for a career in cybersecurity as a Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist. The certificate emphasizes competency in computer networking, information systems management, Linux fundamentals, cybersecurity fundamentals, python programming, computer forensics, and ethical hacking fundamentals. Students will develop skills in risk and vulnerability management as well as learn competencies in cyber defense, computer forensics, and ethical hacking. Students will also develop analytical skills and programming fundamentals using python programming.

Program Goal

The program goals of the Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist Certificate of Achievement is to provide fundamental competency in cybersecurity and ethical hacking principles. This certificate may be used to complement another similar degree program at the 2-year and 4-year level.

The program objectives are to develop core knowledge to be able to compete for a career position as a Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist. The core knowledge students will gain include computer networking and cybersecurity fundamentals as well as critical thinking skills in cyber defense and penetration testing.

Program Requirements Narrative

This certificate of achievement will stack upon the Cybersecurity Specialist Certificate of Achievement by adding 4 additional courses to complete. In addition to the 4 courses for the Cybersecurity Specialist certificate, the Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist Certificate of Achievement adds a course on Linux fundamentals (CSCI 130), an overview of information technology systems (CSIT 125), a computer forensics course (CSNT 280) and the Ethical Hacking Principles course (CSNT 255).
