ADJ D1A -The 120-hour Basic Public Safety Dispatch Course is designed for law enforcement entry level Dispatchers. The course provides basic skills and knowledge in proper telephone, radio techniques, stress management, and local emergency service systems.

Students will need to complete 2 additional units from the following list:

ADJ D1B Dispatcher Update  1 unit

ADJ D1C Communications Training officer  2 units

ADJ D3A  Handling the Rising Tide of Suicide  .25 unit

ADJ D4A Dispatcher role in critical Incidents   .25 unit

ADJ D5A Dispatcher Public Safety Advanced   .5 unit

ADJ D6A Crisis Negotiation Concepts  .25 unit

ADJ D7A Dispatcher Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault  .25 unit

Program Goal
In this program, the students will learn how to answer emergency/non-emergency calls from the public, techniques for obtaining information/providing information to the public during emergency situations/non- emergency situations, dispatch via radio during emergency/non-emergency situations, and track multiple units/incidents via radio system and learn appropriate protocols for specific incidents.

Program Requirements

This course is designed for law enforcement/public safety  dispatchers and is available to students based upon qualification. Students must be a minimum 18 years old, have no felony convictions, no misdemeanor convictions involving weapon violations or acts of physical violence, and have a valid driver’s license  or ID card.This course is a basic overview of public safety dispatching and satisfies the July 1, 2011 revised curriculum set by the Peace Officer Standards and Training for basic public safety dispatching.
