Manufacturing and Industrial Technology (095600)
08/17/26
The Sierra College Advanced Manufacturing Program prepares students for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining and is also ideal for students who need to upgrade prior machine shop training to comply with the current needs of the industry. The Advanced Manufacturing certificate of achievement provides a comprehensive understanding of the skills necessary for success in the Advanced Manufacturing industry. This program is designed to enable the student to enter industry with problem-solving skills in design, production, planning, materials handling, quality control, inspection and programming with computer-aided controls. The student, upon the successful completion of the program, will have job–entry skill and career advancement opportunities. A certificate is designed to provide career technical skills; it is not equivalent to an associate degree.
Enrolled 40 per year Completion 5 per year and growing over time as associated apprenticeship grows
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
Provide students with middle skills needed for living-wage employment in manufacturing industries. The intent of this adjustment is to 1) Streamline award attainment, 3) Accommodate employer requests to have employees with broader knowledge of manufacturing, 4) Show new course numbering system in Award Details, 5) By increasing CoA from 15 to 26 units, students who need Financial Aid can now enroll in this program course of study 6) align curriculum with core requirements of Associates Degree program with the same title

The COE data shows upward mobility though the wage data showed lower. Yet, with above average skills students should still attain and maintain a living wage.
