Cannabis Level 1 Certificate
New Program
Horticulture (010900)
02/27/23
The Cannabis Level 1 skills certificate prepares students for entry level positions into the Cannabis industry. Students are required to complete 6 courses that encompass the context and science of cannabis, horticulture science, plant production systems, and nursery work experience.
The required courses create a foundation for understanding Cannabis in its historical and current context, in addition to entry-level cannabis cultivation practices. Furthermore, the principles of plant propagation and nursery management courses build a foundation for use of plants in a commercial production system. This certificate also requires a work experience course to ensure hands on application of the skills covered in this certificate.
Courses will be structured so that students can complete the certificate in Spring and Fall semester, or one academic calendar year. Due to the size of lab courses, 24, we expect a small percentage of drops in this cohort. This creates an estimate of 20 completers per year.
