Program Goal

This program addresses the undersupply of multimedia and video arts workers in the Bay Area region of California.  Completion of this A.A. will provide students with the coursework they need for certification to gain employment as producers, directors, editors, or other video crew, whether in-house or freelancing. Employment will also be found in the growing field of social media content production.

The program has been updated to reflect the change in designation of most Multimedia Arts video courses from MMART to MM/VI.

The A.A. in Video Arts is designed to prepare students to transfer to education programs at four-year institutions.  Additionally, completion of this A.A. will provide students with the coursework they need to work as video producers, video editors, motion graphics designers, on-location or studio recordists, sound designers for radio and motion picture, cinematographers, camera operators, gaffers, grips, documentaries and nonfiction producers, video directors, social media content producers, social media producers or project managers.

CTE & Transfer

Include any other information you would like to share.
The video strand under the Multimedia Arts department recently was updated to clean up TOP codes and to update courses with new prefixes as well as to check SAM and CIP codes. The change in the TOP code is a substantive change, thus the program is being submitted for endorsement.
Please list similar programs at other colleges in the service area which may be impacted, including the name of the college, the name of the program that may be impacted, the name of the person you contacted and the outcome of that contact.
Laney has a Broadcast Video Program we contacted Vina Cera to inform her of the updates. The updates have followed our local process and have been approved at Local college and District CIPD. Contra Costa has a Digital Film Production certificate; CCSF has a Cinema Production AS, as you will see from the LMI data there are plenty of opportunities for all students to succeed and they are outside our catchment area.
