Court Reporting (051430)
08/01/26
The Court Reporting Scopist Certificate of Achievement prepares students for employment supporting Certified Shorthand Reporters by editing and producing accurate, formatted transcripts for court, depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and related proceedings. Students learn to work within computer-aided transcription (CAT) environments to convert reporter output into polished, verbatim text; research and resolve untranslated and mistranslated entries; apply the Minimum Transcript Format Standards; and manage reporter dictionaries and job files. Emphasis is placed on English usage and punctuation for legal records, legal and medical terminology, audio-to-text verification, confidentiality and ethics, production workflows, and on-time delivery. Graduates are prepared for freelance or agency roles that are commonly remote and deadline driven.
