Manufacturing and Industrial Technology (095600)
08/16/27
The Product Prototyping Skills Certificate is designed to give students entry-level skills, knowledge, and abilities required to enter the workforce using Advanced Manufacturing processes to solve design problems and develop prototypes of new product concepts. The certificate is designed to provide short-term training that develops fundamental skills for employment and upskilling with Computer Aided Design (CAD), Additive Manufacturing, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technologies, enabling innovation and design thinking. This program comprises a stackable certificate progression aligned with the Advanced Manufacturing and local apprenticeship programs.
A certificate is designed to provide career technical skills; it is not equivalent to an associate degree.
Enrollment 20 per year
Completion 20 per year
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
Provide students with entry-level skills needed for immediate employment in manufacturing industries. This certificate prepares students to become employed in the Manufacturing Industry as a CNC Machinist specializing in product prototypes. Accommodates employer requests to have employees who can be put to work immediately with minimal training. The intent of this certificate is to 1) Streamline award attainment, 2) Provide students with a wider variety of course selection, 3) Accommodate employer requests to have employees with broader knowledge of manufacturing, 4) Provide a credit skills certificate for the ADVM program which is stackable towards a CoA of AS.
