Completion of the Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic Essentials Certificate of Achievement helps students gain the foundational skills required for entry-level maintenance roles in manufacturing environments. It provides hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, equipment, and safety practices, improving job readiness and confidence. Students leave with recognized credentials that support career advancement, make them more competitive in the workforce, and offer a clear pathway toward additional certifications and further training in maintenance and reliability.

Program Goal

The Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic Essentials program directly supports workforce preparation by equipping students with the technical skills needed for high-demand maintenance roles in local industry. It provides a foundation for transfer into advanced manufacturing and engineering pathways, while also strengthening students’ basic technical and problem-solving skills. By addressing regional employer needs and supporting economic mobility, the program serves an important local purpose and contributes to a stronger, more resilient community workforce. Program learning outcomes include: Demonstrate shop safety, Demonstrate proficiency in electrical wiring and troubleshooting, Interpret blueprints and shop drawings, Design control logic for use on a PLC, Describe hydraulic system operation, Design and diagram the integration of motor and control system components, and Align electric motor shafts with a gearbox shaft, identify if a shaft is worn, and correctly install a woodruff key to ensure shaft connection.
