Catalog Description

This program is designed to provide students who have completed the PLC Technician Certificate of Achievement the opportunity to earn an Associate's Degree.  Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to work on the PLC-based industrial control systems commonly found in advanced manufacturing facilities.  Students will gain hands-on experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley controllers.  Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to troubleshoot PLC-based systems, replace faulty electrical components, and program and commission systems.  Students who successfully complete the program will be well prepared for the CET (Certified Electronics Technician) examination, to be able to work safely in accordance with NFPA 70E.

This program is designed for students who have completed the Industrial PLC Technician Certificate of Achievement to earn pursue further study and earn an Associate's Degree.  The program will prepare students to be employed as  Lead Industrial PLC Technicians working with the equipment commonly found in advanced manufacturing facilities.  The program will also prepare students to pass the CET (Certified Electronics Technician) examination, and to be able to work safely in accordance with NFPA 70E.

Program Requirements Narrative

In order to earn the Associate of Science Degree, students must successfully complete the 25-26 unit Industrial PLC Technician Certificate of Achievement, a minimum of 18 units of coursework in the general education (GE) pattern, and sufficient elective units to accumulate a total of 60 units for the degree.
