Catalog Description
The Butte College HVACR Program serves our community by providing diverse experiential learning opportunities in a progressive curriculum, using modern technology, industry cooperation, and alumni support to prepare students for a productive future in HVACR industry. This program is designed to teach students skills by simulations and field internship experiences required to meet industry standards, North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification, and National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning - Level 1 through Level 4.

This program takes four semesters to complete.  To be successful in this program, students need basic competence in mathematics, possess computer skills, sufficient physical stamina to be able to stand and bend for long periods, and not to be bothered by extended exposure to the outdoors and confined spaces.

Students who are still enrolled in high school and who are considering a career as in HVACR are encouraged to take courses in welding, design/modeling, mathematics, electrical, plumbing, automotive, and industrial education. Courses in physical sciences and physics would enhance a student's knowledge and broaden one's experiences.

The objective of this program is to teach students with internships and hands-on experiences with industry-aligned skills to install, commission, operate, and maintain residential, commercial, and industrial heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) systems.

Enrollment Completer Projections

We are projected to have 20 students in the program and same number of students complete the Certificate of Achievement and about 3 students per year earn an AS Degree.
