This certificate of achievement program is designed to prepare students for entry-level and promotional positions in the public works sector. Job opportunities include:
- public works and landscape maintenance worker,
- lead worker,
- and supervisory positions.
Student learning outcomes:
- Analyze and evaluate public and private hardscape structures and determine upgrades or preventative maintenance requirements necessary to ensure public safety, long-term budget strategy, aesthetics, and municipal code compliance.
- Evaluate and analyze existing landscape and plan new greenscape installation as well as establish mow schedule, frequency of tree pruning, irrigation schedule, pest and weed abatement, fertilization schedule, and aeration to ensure cost savings and water conservation while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing landscape.

Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
- Prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies of the technical aspects of construction maintenance.
- Provide students with a comprehensive education, training, and preparation to assume in-demand opportunities within the Public Works sector performing the various maintenance services within a public works division or department.
- Prepare students to acquire industry-recognized credentials.

Course Report
