The Certificate of Achievement in Forensics, Evidence and Investigation offers instruction in the areas of crime scene processing and documentation, evidence preservation, blood spatter, DNA, fingerprints, photography, report writing, and legal issues relating to physical evidence. The curriculum prepares students with a foundation in crime scene investigations (CSI) and forensics and is designed to meet the needs of students seeking an entry-level civilian position working crime scenes and/or handling evidence, as well as enhancing the credentials of law enforcement officers interested in CSI.

Program Goals and Objectives

The goals and objectives for the certificate of achievement in forensics, evidence, and investigation is to provide educational opportunities for our students in the career and technical field of forensic science. Our proposed certificate aligns with providing students with foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for forensic investigations.

Program Goals

  • Develop core competencies in forensic science – equip students with knowledge of forensics principles, including crime scene analysis, evidence collection, and forensic technology.
  • Enhance investigative and analytical skills – train students in investigative techniques, critical thinking, and the application of forensic methodologies.
  • Promote ethical and legal awareness – ensure students understand legal frameworks, ethical considerations, and procedural requirements related to evidence handling and investigation.
  • Prepare for professional roles in forensics – provide practical skills applicable to careers in forensic science, legal support, and private investigation.
