Automotive Business Management

The Automotive Business Management Certificate of Achievement prepares students for supervisory, management, and customer service careers within the automotive industry. The program combines technical automotive knowledge with business administration coursework to develop skills in automotive operations, customer relations, business management, accounting, marketing, and workplace leadership. Students completing the certificate will be prepared for employment opportunities such as automotive service advisor, shop supervisor, parts and service manager, customer service manager, and other leadership roles within automotive dealerships, repair facilities, and related automotive enterprises.

The certificate is designed for students seeking career advancement in the automotive field and for individuals interested in combining automotive technical training with business management competencies. Upon completion of the certificate, students will be prepared for entry-level supervisory and management positions such as automotive service advisor, shop supervisor, customer service manager, parts and service manager, and related leadership roles within the automotive industry.

The Automotive Business Management Certificate of Achievement expands East Los Angeles College’s existing Automotive Technology curriculum by integrating business administration and management coursework that supports career advancement within the automotive industry. The program complements existing STEM Career and Academic Pathway (CAP) offerings, including the Automobile Technology Associate of Science Degree, Automobile Technology Certificate of Achievement, and Automotive Customer Service Management Skills Certificate, while also incorporating coursework aligned with the Business Administration CAP cluster.

The certificate is designed to provide students with both technical automotive knowledge and business management competencies needed for supervisory and leadership roles in automotive service environments. Unlike traditional automotive technology programs that focus primarily on diagnostics and repair, this program emphasizes management, customer relations, workplace supervision, business operations, and entrepreneurship within automotive-related enterprises. The interdisciplinary structure strengthens career pathways for students seeking advancement into automotive management, service advising, shop supervision, and small business ownership opportunities.
