Media Arts and Creative Entertainment Certificate of Achievement

The Media Arts and Creative Entertainment Certificate program provides students with a concentrated course of study in the field of acting/directing coupled with film and television production to give them the skills necessary to create and produce their own recorded media projects, or to prepare them for entry-level employment in the entertainment industry.    Completion of this certificate will provide students with the understanding and appreciation of storytelling, camera operation, event documentation, lighting, sound, post-production and business practices associated with self-employment as a media self-producer.  The required 12 units give students a strong foundation, while the elective five units allow students to choose a concentration based on their particular area of interest within the field.

Students will be able to demonstrate competence as directors, performers, actors and technicians and demonstrate critical understanding of visual storytelling coupled with current and effective performance, directing and fundamental business methods and techniques to be prepared for self-employment and/or entry-level employment in the entertainment industry.  

Students will complete a total of  12 units of required core course work and at least five units of elective coursework to complete the certificate of achievement.

This program complements programs in Video/TV and Theater Arts to create an option for students interested in self-production of media for social media platforms.

This program is thought to be unique in its specialty focus on self-production of media. However, the following colleges have programs in general film production: Cerritos, LA CIty, LA Valley, Saddleback, Santa Monica, and West Los Angeles.
