Commercial Music: Scoring for Film and Multimedia

This program is designed for students who wish to learn or enhance their skills in the art of composition for film or other visual media, and become prepared for a career in music business.Students will gain a well-rounded knowledge of essential areas such as composition, music technology, music theory, keyboard skills, film music history, and entrepreneurship.

The Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Music: Scoring for Film and Multimedia is a Career Technical Education program designed to prepare students to work in film music related careers. Students who complete the program will have developed expertise in areas such as film composition and music production, and will be equipped to enter the film music work force.

Ohlone College Music; Commercial Music; Jim McManus; We offer similar course e.g. “Intro to Music Technology"; he doesn't know if our program will impact Ohlone's but supports the plan. Los Medanos College; Recording Arts; Frank Dorritie; From Frank - As you know, LMC offers an AA in Recording Arts and a Certificate Program. Your proposed courses would cover some of the same ground, though perhaps in less detail than our degree program. I envision no conflicts, given our respective geographic locations. Indeed, we may find ways to cooperate, to the benefit of students. Personally, I continue to support your efforts to develop these related classes. However, we have both recording arts certificate and Music Production; For film scoring program, it will not affect our programs at all. I suspect we serve different communities and thus the offering of the similar program at Las Positas College will probably have minimal impact on our own offerings. I support your planned curriculum.
