Interior Design and Merchandising (130200)
08/15/20
This program provides a thorough and analytical foundation of the Interior Architectural Design field that will enable students to practice professionally and serve their community with safe, functional, and innovative interior spaces. Students will develop employment skills in hand sketching and visualization, digital production skills using current software, specification of surface materials and furniture. Significant academic and professional career focused electives are offered in green design, production design for Film and TV. A wide range of digital modeling and rendering courses are offered using industry specific software.
Based on COE report, our program has doubled in Degrees and Certificates awarded from 14 to 30 in 2018. Three year average is 20 .
With decrease in units from 48 to 40, and adjusting required courses to transfer easily to local four year institutions,we anticipate increased completions to 40.

Course Report
The existing Interior Architectural program consists of a CoA and an A.S. degree. The CoA consists of 48 units and the A.S. degree consiste of additional 12 units of General Education, which brings the total units to 60. It was taking students too long to complete the CoA and A.S. degree. We have eliminated courses that do not transfer to four year institutions and reduced the CoA units to 41.
