Catalog Description

The Emissions Essentials Service TechnicianCertificate is needed to support students who desire to become state-licensed smog technicians. Air quality is one of the most important issues facing the automotive industry and there is a large need for new smog technicians. This program will provide students or incumbent technicians with the four most important courses that support air quality and prepare students for the state smog license test. Completers are employed as general service technicians, smog technicians electrical and diagnostic technicians, or are self-employed. Cognitive ability, hand-eye coordination are recommended for those entering the program. This program is designed to give the completer the necessary skills to excel in the automotive service industry or strengthen the knowledge of entry-level incumbent workers as they progress towards developing their career in Automotive Service. The Emission Essentials Service Technician Program requires 18 units of which 18 units are required.
