Course work includes a comprehensive study with an emphasis on application of fundamental welding techniques and safe industry practices. Program Student Learning Outcomes: • Demonstrate advanced level skills to produce quality welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions using various arc welding processes. • The student will acquire the necessary skills to produce quality FCAW (Flux Corel Arc Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. • The student will acquire a basic understanding of metallurgy as it relates to welding. • The student will able to interpret the text, figures and tables found in AWS (American Welding Society) D1.1 Structural Welding Code book. • The student will be prepared for an entry level welding positions as a sheet metal worker, ironworker or pipefitter.
