Program Goal
The purpose of this Construction Engineering Management degree is to provide students with the necessary academic preparation needed for entry-level work within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry. The targeted employment positions will be in direct support of construction projects. (As such, the supporting LMI data is aggregated for multiple potential career goals available to those individuals who complete this degree.) A secondary purpose exists for those students who decide to pursue more advanced degrees in this field as the curriculum provides a the lower-division education that will support and advance the progress of students with their transfer efforts into Bachelor’s-level programs for Construction Engineering Management and similar Civil Engineering programs. The overall goal of the program is to fill an identified need in the AEC industry for individuals with broad knowledge and skills to oversee construction projects with consideration of both the business and technical aspects. Coursework and projects are accomplished which simulate those commonly performed in a typical workplace. With consideration of the dual purpose as indicated above, an additional goal is to support and guide students into higher degrees that may lead to professional licensure in this field as Civil Engineers.
