The Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) offers degrees and certificates in three major areas: Computer Programming, Network Administration and Web Developer. See the respective major sheets for additional information about the specific certificates and degrees. A grade of “C” or better is required in all certificate, major and major elective courses.
The CIS Information System Security Cyber Security certificate and degree programs are designed to provide students with skills in cybersecurity to enable graduates to gain employment as an entry-level Cyber-security professional. Most business computers are being connected in networks. The industry needs skilled Cyber-security personals. Courses will emphasize skills on how to secure, protect and manage information systems. The Information System Security Cyber Security program is designed to train students to fill these needs.
The AS Degree program provides best practices and competencies for students to design, install and implement secure applications and services; manage, and optimize application to ensure compliance with security controls; help prevent, detect, investigate and respond to application security threats and attacks; facilitate application security vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and risk assessments; investigate application security events and incidents, including forensic analysis; represent security interests on project teams by ensuring security standards and requirements; conduct security research,analysis, and review of application solutions to ensure compliance with company security policies; evaluate new products and technologies to protect against existing and emerging security threats; and develop and implement information security policies and procedures.

Information Systems Security-Cyber-Security AS Major
The Cybersecurity AS degree program is designed to prepare the students to enter the workforce prepared with the knowledge they need to acquire an entry-level cyber-security position. This program prepares students in analytical thinking, critical analysis, group collaboration, effective communication, and the necessary skills to analyze and solve computer network security issues to help protect computers and computer networks using multiple operating systems. The AS degree may be obtained by completion of the required program plus general education requirements and sufficient electives to meet a 60-unit total.
Information Systems Security-Cyber-Security Certificate of Achievement
The goal of this program is to increase diversity in the technical workforce by providing an education platform for entry-level cyber-security Specialists. This program aims to develop the quality and quantity of technical professionals to fulfill business needs and generate greater economic impact in the Bay Area region. Students will gain soft and technical skills necessary to become entry-level Cyber-security Specialists.
